Why am I launching LFF?

I am so excited to be launching this makeup aimed at women who may no longer be young...but who certainly are not old. Ageing in a youth-obsessed culture is tough, especially for women. However, I am an eternal optimist so I firmly believe that it will get better because there are going to be so many of us (baby boomers) demanding more and expecting more than ever before.

Why make-up? Because it's by far the quickest and easiest route to looking (and feeling) instantly better. It takes time and money to improve your skin, lose weight, have your hair beautifully cut or buy a great new outfit. But, spend 10-15 minutes applying some 'slap' and you are immediately transformed. Before I do a makeover on a client I always take a photograph and then another one after. It never fails to amaze me just how great older women look with some carefully applied colour to their faces, eyes, and lips.

I particularly love the transformations of the women in the gallery.

These women are all friends of mine who gallantly offered to come and be photographed for this site. The photographs are completely honest - none has been in any way re-touched. The only difference between the before and after shots is that their hair and make-up has been done. I have shown these photos to lots of people and the one word that everyone immediately utters is 'wow' - it is the universal response.

I think the 'wow' says it all.

I also hope you watch and enjoy the videos which are there to help you to understand why the products are special for a more mature face. Again I asked two lovely friends to appear in the videos and we had such fun making them. Maybe as we age we take ourselves a lot less seriously - we know it's great to look and feel great but it's really not the be-all and end-all.

In the future, I want to use this blog to inform, inspire and I am sure, occasionally to irritate you.

I will reference any stories in the media of relevance or interest in the image that they portray or the assumptions they make about we women of a certain age. I hear and read them all the time and I am really looking forward to sharing them with you here.
