Do you 100% unconditionally love every part of your ageing body - feet, legs, thighs, tummy area, boobs, upper arms, neck, chin, nose, etc etc? No, I thought not, and neither do I! If you answered 'yes I do love every part of my body unconditionally' - Â then I congratulate you wholeheartedly and say you are a very rare woman, and you can stop reading this now!

I'm sorry that I have probably arrived too late for the party! First, let me say how attractive you look when you dress in your own style; and secondly how I empathise over the feet/legs thing. (I am a similar age, and have similar problems, compounded by being tall and wearing size 8 E shoes. God bless Hotter and Padders, and the work being done by the Healthy Footwear Group.)
I found the Daily Mail article and photos, this blog entry and your readers' comments very interesting. All three of you featured in the article look much more 'authentic' in the unstyled photos, and - were we to meet - I can imagine enjoying a chat. That is not, alas, true of an imagined encounter with you in the bodycon frocks and stupid shoes. The discomfort you feel, both physical and emotional, is reflected in your faces.
I wonder whether the recent news flurry about Nicola Thorp's refusal to wear high heels at PwC will have had any impact on the Mail's notions? Somehow, I doubt it!

First of all, you look lovely in your picture. But I agree about our legs. The pointed shoes weren't the right choice. I am with you on the "column of color" with scarves, jackets and lovely makeup to draw the eye upward.
Brava!
Brava!

I was gob smacked by the attitude of the people you had to deal with, this must happen to women of all ages and gives us every day folk the wrong impression of what it takes to be a successful person in any business.
When I saw your tv interview I thought how lovely you looked (and oddly, because your business is make up) and very natural.
I'm 56 and have struggled to find a style that suits me, having suffered with low self esteem hasn't helped. I have, by coincidence been taking a leaf out of your book, for the last few months I have been wearing black leggings or slim dark trousers, flat ish boots and brighter tops, and been very happy. Make up was next, I have just made my first order which I await with eagerness.
I salute you, keep up the good work.

I hate that tight 'groomed' look they shoehorned you into. Not just on you, but generally. We need to work towards making comfortable work.

Thanks for your thoughtful comments Kate - I agree that a monochrome look can be very elegant - as you have found! Sorry for the delay in posting this - it got buried under all the amazing comments this blogpost received! Triciax
